Meet Derrick Hall
Arizona Diamondback's President
By Steve Gilbert
Hall left the Dodgers in 2004 for a similar position with KB Home, a Fortune 500 company, before joining the D-Backs front office in May 2005.
“I am extremely grateful for this wonderful opportunity,” said Hall. “Rich has left some large shoes to fill, but I look forward to the challenge and to picking up where his legacy has left off. He is a good friend and will be a necessary resource and asset for me moving forward. This organization will continue to provide the greatest fans in baseball with a level of wholesome and family friendly entertainment that is unmatched.”
Hall had a big impact on the D-Backs organization immediately. He also took over the team’s marketing and sales department for a while, and established the state’s first-ever presenting sponsor for a sports franchise when he inked a deal with Gila River Casinos. Hall is obviously set on continuing a franchise that became the youngest to win 100 games, doing so in its second year, as well as the fastest expansion club to win a World Series.
Hall also created several departments, including publicity and special projects/events, and has established kid-friendly programs to enhance the family experience. Along with Joe Garagiola Sr., Hall has created the “No Chew Crew” to educate children and the public on the harm of chewing tobacco. Hall serves on several boards including the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, Valley of the Sun United Way, the United Blood Services Leadership Council, and is also an active member of The Thunderbirds. He has been appointed as a commissioner for the Phoenix Pride Commission. He is also the 2006-07 Honorary Annual Campaign Chairman for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, and is himself a Big Brother. Hall and his wife, Amy, have three children, Logan, Hayden and Kylie.
